Tamara Rafkin is an artist focused on the connections between people, cultures, emotions, and places. Originally from Charleston, SC, she has lived in various parts of the United States and Belgium, which have shaped her artistic perspective.
Throughout her career, Tamara has produced a diverse range of works, including photographs, artist books, assemblages, ceramics, and mixed media works. Her pieces can be found in private and public collections in the US and internationally.
From 2021 to 2023, she was featured as one of eleven Belgian artists in the "Art at the Residency" exhibition at the Official Fifth Avenue Residence of the Belgian Consulate General in NYC. Tamara’s photographic series "Scars" is represented by Front Room Gallery in Hudson, NY. During the summer of 2025, Tamara was an artist in residence at the Taoxichuan International Artist Residence in Jingdezhen, China, and attended the Penland School of Craft in NC as the 2025 UNT Ceramic Scholarship recipient.
Tamara and her partner create at their studios in North Fort Worth, while she is also in the MFA program at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. She will be exhibiting her thesis and completing her degree in Spring 2026.
